The Skipper Stand Up Show is the place where skippers from Disneyland’s famous attraction, the Jungle Cruise, can show how talented they really are. The show features a volatile mixture of current and former skippers, hysterical videos, and other nonsense. It is unlike any comedy show that you have ever been too. Some of our Skippers have performed professionally while others will be taking the stage for the first time, without a script, and without management supervision.
According to David Marley, the producer of Skipper Stand Up, “This show is the result of my love of the Jungle Cruise and Disneyland. So many skippers are incredibly talented people, I wanted to give them a venue to show how funny they are. Being a skipper is a great comedy training ground since you have several captive audiences for 8 to 10 minutes at a time over an 8-hour shift. That teaches you to target your material to people of different ages or ethnicity.” The camaraderie between the skippers gives the audience a feeling of being in a giant party.
The show is held six times a year in the intimate cabaret setting of the Maverick Theater for one low price and no drink minimums, so you can sit back and enjoy the show. (The theatre does have a bar. These are Skippers after all). Since its inception in June 2006, each Skipper Stand Up Show has sold out days before the big night.
So come see the show that the Orange County Register says is “more HBO than Disney Channel.” Get your tickets now. Trader Sam demands it!
